Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund Prediction & Match Preview

FC Bayern

Dortmund

06 March 2021 17:30 UK/ 18:30 CET Bundesliga Allianz Arena

There will be fireworks when Bayern Munchen and Borussia Dortmund face each other in the Bundesliga derby on Matchday 24.

The reigning champions faced no difficulties in a 5-1 win over Koln, with Serge Gnabry scoring a brace on his return from injury. Since Thomas Muller has left the quarantined, we believe that there is a big value in betting on the hosts.

As always, a man to watch in the home team will be Robert Lewandowski, who has netted 28 goals in the German top flight so far this term.

Edin Terzic’s troops did well to beat relegation strugglers Arminia Bielefeld 3-0, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry in Saturday’s derby.

Since Bayern always produce the best displays in big matches, we predict that Erling Haland and Co.

are going to return home empty-handed. Bayern Munchen are eyeing their fifth consecutive win over Borussia Dortmund in all competitions.

Team News:

Bayern's availability issues appear to have improved further with Benjamin Pavard back in training after recovering from COVID-19, but Niklas Sule will likely continue at right-back.

Corentin Tolisso, Douglas Costa, Alexander Nubel and Tanguy Nianzou are all out injured for the hosts.

Given their impact against Koln, Flick is likely to throw Gnabry and Muller straight back into the starting XI at the expense of Jamal Musiala and Choupo-Moting.

Dortmund, meanwhile, will travel to Munich without the injured trio of Manuel Akanji, Axel Witsel and Marcel Schmelzer.

Thomas Delaney shook off a fever to start in Monchengladbach in midweek, though, so should start in Terzic's midfield once more, with Emre Can still required in defence alongside Mats Hummels, who will be keen to get one over on his former club.

Sancho and Raphael Guerreiro both came off against Gladbach with ice packs on their legs, but Terzic will be doing everything in his power to ensure both can be nursed through the game.
