Lens vs Lyon Prediction & Match Preview

Monaco

Metz

03 April 2021 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET Ligue 1 Stade Bollaert-Delelis

Stade Bollaert-Delelis will host Saturday’s football game between Lens and Lyon, the two teams who are eyeing a place in European competitions.

Lens aim to build on a 2-1 win over Strasbourg, and we are positive that they will stick to their attacking style of play.

Facundo Medina will have to serve his ban against Lyon, while Arnaud Kalimuendo remains in the recovery room.

Les Gones, on the other hand, suffered a heart-breaking loss (2-4) to PSG before the international break, but despite the defeat they remained in the title race.

Given Lyon’s attacking potential, there is every chance we will see goals galore at Stade Bollaert-Delelis. Houssem Aouar is out of contention through injury, but he should be the only absentee in the away team.

In the first half of the season Olympique Lyon recorded a 3-2 win over Lens, which is yet another reason why we are tempted to put our money on over 2.5 goals.

Team News:

Lens centre-back Facundo Medina will be forced to sit this one out due to an accumulation of yellow cards, so Steven Fortes should deputise in Haise's back three.

Clauss is in no danger of being demoted to the bench by Clement Michelin after his brace of assists last time out, but it remains to be seen if Arnaud Kalimuendo will be cleared to play as he battles his way back from a knee problem.

Ganago could be in line for his first start since January if Simon Banza makes way, while Florian Sotoca was surprisingly benched against Strasbourg and will be eyeing an immediate recall this weekend.

Arsenal-linked midfielder Houssem Aouar missed out against PSG due to a muscular problem, and having not travelled for international duty, he will not be ready for this fixture either.

The visitors have no injury concerns otherwise, but Bruno Guimaraes is pining for a start over Maxence Caqueret in the middle of the park, while Leo Dubois could earn a recall at right-back over Mattia De Sciglio.

Slimani's goal against PSG is unlikely to see him earn a start over Memphis Depay, who bagged two goals and two assists in the Netherlands' three World Cup Qualifying matches last month.

Lens possible starting lineup:
Leca; Fortes, Bade, Gradit; Clauss, Fofana, Doucoure, Haidara; Kakuta; Sotoca, Ganago

Lyon possible starting lineup:
Lopes; Dubois, Marcelo, Denayer, Cornet; Mendes, Caqueret, Paqueta; Kadewere, Depay, Toko Ekambi
